No, I didn’t whack the shit out of my keyboard whilst writing the title of this post. That there, dear readers, is the name of the Icelandic glacier volcano which began spewing out epic amounts of volcanic ash on the 14th April and is still going on now, albeit with less intensity. Why the hell am I blogging about this I hear you say? Well for a while the ash that it was choking out nearly scuppered my chances of attending the Morning Days 5 Tour and consequently made me so freaking mad that I couldn’t find the willpower to talk to anyone, let alone post to my blog.
For anyone who doesn’t know, the plume drifted in to airspace above large parts of northern Europe so many airports – including all British ones – stopped flights on the 15th April for fear that the ash could get in to the engines of the planes and make them fail. Airports then remained closed until late 20th April so for 5 days I was absolutely beside myself and a bit of a bitch to be around. It was totally justified though!
To be completely honest it’s not all plain sailing (or should that be flying) yet as the blasted thing could start spewing out copious amounts more of ash at any moment and if the wind changes direction the UK will become covered in it again. Whether airline companies will take the risk and fly in the ash is unknown, especially if we end up getting more then we did before, so until I actually get up in the air I can’t relax. I seriously cannot miss this trip so I’m currently in the process of concocting a back-up plan incase the shit ash hits the fan. Something along the lines of getting a ferry to the south of Spain and getting a flight to Tokyo from there should do the trick. Drastic? Yes, but totally necessary.
Anyway, I just wanted to explain why I hadn’t updated in a while, especially seeing as I’m supposed to be doing the 2nd part of my Morning Musume DVD Magazine 29 series. I will report that I have started taking screen caps and nono:)bbz is currently working on some gifs for me so I might just cover the earthquake simulator part of the DVD. I fly out to Japan (volcano permitting) on the 30th April so fingers crossed that I’ll get round to completing the post before then. If I don’t I sincerely apologise *bows*
Eyjafjallajokull is apparently pronounced ay-yah-flaht-lah-yer-kuh-lurkh…or something (o_O)
So “How do you solve a problem like Eyjafjallajokull?” Fuck knows, it was just the first thing that came in to my head whilst writing the title. Giant fans perhaps? *shrug*

The title remindsme of the sound of music which I guess was your intention :P hopefully you manage to get to Japan *fingers crossed*
Gina oh Gina Ginelli!
Thanks <3 Yeah, I was thinking about Sound of Music for some odd reason. Must be the name of the volcano…
I’ll try and use my powers of geology to help you my dear
I recommend that you take a train/ferry etc. to country that has open airports and flights to Japan. I’d really hate to see you missing the tour since I’m expecting a really great review from you ;D
You know, when I read about the closure of British airspace I immediately thought about you and your trip!
Just in case the beast decides to reawaken: I live in Spain, near Madrid, and I’m ready to offer logistical support for your backup plan. Airports in central and southern Spain remained open during the crisis, so there’s a good chance we can fly you off safely to Japan even in the event of another catastrophe.
So sit back, relax and keep screencapping. :-)
Risa needs some loving… Though I seldom pray but I’ll pray for you =)
It’s pronounced “ay-yah-fyah-tlah-yeh-kuh-tlh” XD
I can’t imagine you not getting there in time. I’m so jealous that you get to go to such an awesome Risa-filled event, that if I don’t get to live it through you, I’ll throw a fist along with you. But it seems like all will go well: I know there is still a chance that the friggin thing starts spitting ash again, but most likely the worst is over now :)
Good thing though that you have a plan B just in case :good:
Make sure to wear all your gaki green items when you’re there, I’m sure you’ll get her to remember your name this time ;)
Yes but now you have one “volcano” tag and that, my dear, is priceless !
(I pray you get to fly safely to Japan – give JunJun a kiss on my behalf ;) )
@Liamers – Is that code for using Captain Planets ‘Earth’ ring? I think the earth really needs the Planeteers right now, what with all these recent natural disasters and all! (<_<)
@Willa – If it all goes wrong again that’s my plan! I’ll get there by hook or by crook so I don’t let people down (^_^)
@Ye Olde Wota – Aww, thanks for thinking of me ♥♥♥ Fingers crossed that it doesn’t blow it’s top again but if it does and you can help me out that’d be awesome. I’d be in your debt forever!
@kRisZ – I’m not one for praying either, unless it’s to the Gaki Gods! Thanks for your support.
@Kea – I got the pronunciation from a news site then changed it slightly after listening to some Icelandic person repeating the name over and over and over again lol. I think I ended up Lolli-fying it XD I has one of Risa’s t-shirts plus Gaki Green trainers and a TakiGaki watch to wear to the event, so hopefully she’ll realise I’m a fan. I’m just hoping she remembers me from last August. Eri probably will.
@tranxenne – I didn’t know what tags to use so just opted for that one lol. I’ll look back on it in years to come and think “volcano”? WTF? If I get to meet Jun Jun I’ll give her a kiss for you, although I doubt I’ll actually get to though as there’s no events going on T_T
Well, just to wish you all the luck of the world and that you can fly to Japan quickly!. I dobout that the Gaki Gods would let their most loyal follower to be prevented of spending five days with her tho :)! Luckily it would without having to do plan b >.<
